TRIP ITINERARY

This trip offers some of the most spectacular landscapes and wildlife in the world. It has it all. Starting with Maasai Mara magnificent home of the world-famous Great Migration, we will then journey through The Great Rift Valley to the enchanted Lake Nakuru, explore the incredible Amboseli and then carry on to Tsavo East and West. And if after safari you feel like recharging your batteries and need to relax on the beach next to the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean we will take you to Mombasa.

We plan our holidays carefully and always choose the best options available and we will be delighted to tailor a completely pesonalised itinerary to suits your interests, budget and dates. 

Day 1: Nairobi

You will be met by Time for Africa representative at Jomo Kenyata International Airport who will transfer you to the hotel for your overnight stay; accommodation is booked on a bed and breakfast basis. The rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

Leaving Nairobi early in the morning after breakfast, we will travel towards Kenya’s highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment. En-route you will enjoy stunning views of The Great Rift Valley.We will have lunch on the way and then a couple of hours late we will reach Maasai Mara – you will embark on an afternoon game drive returning to the camp site as the sun sets. The game viewing will follow with dinner in your camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara

After an early morning breakfast, you’ll leave the camp on a game drive to the banks of the Mara River. Here you’ll be met by a Ranger who will escort you on foot along the riverbank to a population of wallowing hippo. The Mara River is a major obstacle to the animals on the Migration and the favourite spot for all animal wildlife photographers when the great migration occurs. When the river becomes swollen you will be lucky to see some of the biggest crocodiles in Africa. This day could be your most thrilling day with the opportunity to spot the Big Fives on the vast savannah and the wildlife roaming around you – you will be in the heart of this wildlife – rich reserve. The reserve also offers fantastic opportunities for viewing big cats – breath-taking views of lioness with cubes will be something for you to remember and treasure. Today you will have one of your most memorable lunches – we will have a picnic on Kenyan and Tanzanian border where Maasai Mara stretches into Serengeti. A full day in the Maasai Mara will follow with dinner at the camp site.

Day 4: Maasai Mara – Nakuru 

An early morning game drive when the sun rises will be followed with the late breakfast at the campsite. Leaving the Maasai Mara after breakfast we will travel across the vast plains of the Rift Valley heading for Lake Nakuru. We will arrive at your hotel for lunch. After lunch we will take an afternoon game drive in Nakuru National Park. The park is known to be the bird’s sanctuary and it is also known for the only park in Kenya where you could see both the white and black rhinos. Lake Nakuru is also home to many herbivores including Rotshchild’s giraffe, buffalo, hippos and other mammals including lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, rock hyraxes and reedbuck. We will be back at your accommodation for dinner.

Day 5: Nakuru – Amboseli 

After an early morning game drive, when is the best time to watch animals we will be back to the hotel for breakfast. We will leave for Naivasha after breakfast. Naivasha is around 1 hour away from Nakuru and  Lake it is with Lake Baringo the only freshwater lake in the region. The shores of this beautiful lake host abundance of bird life and have especially large numbers of pelicans, cormorant and fish eagles.  After visiting Lake Naivasha we will leave for Amboseli, stopping for lunch on the way in the local restaurant. We will arrive in Amboseli for dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 6: Amboseli

After breakfast a full day game drive through the Amboseli National Park will awaits you. Amboseli is located on the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m), Africa’s highest mountain. The snows of the mountain form a majestic backdrop to one of Kenya’s most spectacular display of wildlife: lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, and buffalo – creating Kenya’s most sought after photographer’s paradise. This compact park is most famous for its large elephant population. Amboseli was declared a park to protect its unique and fragile ecosystem; it offers landscapes of remarkable contrast: arid areas alongside the lush oases of the swamps. From the Observation Hill you will have a view of the entire park and especially the areas where buffalo, elephants, hippos and water birds come to cool off and refresh themselves. Today we will have a picnic lunch served in the park with possible views of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 7: Amboseli – Tsavo West 

We will wake up early this morning to watch sun rise and if the sky is clear we will have a good chance to see the monumental Mount Kilimanjaro. After a morning game drive we will come back for breakfast at the camp site and then leave for Tsavo West arriving for Tsavo West National Park in time for lunch. Tsavo is the largest park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world and it is a haven for wild animals. The most common creatures here are elephants, rhino, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, giraffe and zebras. We will stay in the hotel overlooking the park so you will have a chance of sightseeing at the comfort of your chair.

Day 8: Tsavo – Mombasa 

After breakfast we will drive to Tsavo East the heart of elephant country. En route to Tsavo East National Park we will visit the Mzima Springs where hippos and crocodiles can be seen swimming in the clear waters. The Galana River provides a scenic strip of lush greenery and attracts wildlife year-round. After a game drive we leave for Mombasa. We recommend 3 days in Mombasa.

Day 9-12:Mombasa  

Mombasa is the gateway to Kenya’s coast which boasts a very vibrant blend of cultures and tranquil white beaches and the coral reefs offer some of the best diving in Kenya. In here you can take a relaxing break after safari or if you wish find a plenty of water sport activities. Warm hospitality makes Mombasa a fantastic holiday spot. Stay and relax here. You can take your flight home from Mombasa.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

Wildlife viewing is good year-round but the best months are during the dry season from late June to October. The wildebeest migration usually reaches the Masai Mara in July and remains until October when they move back to the Serengeti in Tanzania.
