The wildlife at its wildest!
This tour endeavours to explore the scenic beauty of Uganda, its people, and its wildlife. This trip includes the obvious attractions of trekking in indigenous forests to see wild gorillas and chimpanzees and the lesser known sights of Tree Climbing Lions, huge pods of hippopotamus and the endless variety of plains animals.
Sample itinerary: Entebbe/Kampla – Murchison Falls NP – The Nile – Queen Elizabeth NP – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo NP – Kampala/Entebbe – 11 Days
Day 1: Entebbe/Kampala
Transfer from Entebbe/Kampala airport to your accommodation. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or enjoy the local sightseeing, options including The Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary (at own expense). The sanctuary is on the Lake Victoria and is home to the orphaned chimpanzees.
Day 2: Entebbe/Kampala to Murchison Falls
Have an early breakfast and transfer to Murchison Falls (for the 6 to 7 hours journey), along the way pass/visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary- home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. (Tracking rhinos takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes). Have lunch and embark on your journey to the park which is home to a large number of mammals and birds. Relax at the lodge in the evening with a delicious dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Paddle on The Nile
After an early morning breakfast set out at 6:30 am for a game drive through the park especially the Nyamisika plateau. Today you have a chance to spot giraffes, leopards, lions, Cape buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, bushbucks, among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. Afternoon awaits you the boat cruise along the Nile. Time to relax in the company of Hippos, Crocodiles and plentiful of birds like the Pelican, Goliath Heroin, Kingfishers, and the rare shoebill. The boat will leave you at the bottom of the falls close to The Devils Cauldron. You can hike to the top of The Falls to enjoy the thunderous roars of the magnificent falls. You will have a great time watching rainbows in the clouds of falling waters. Later meet your guide and transfer to the lodge. Enjoy dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – the most popular park in Uganda as it offers diverse ecosystem. You will have a lunch break en route and later proceed to the park. On arrival you will head for an evening game drive before checking-in at your accommodation for the night.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will spend the full day in Queen Elizabeth National Park. What you see depends on the season, but the Kasenyi plains are excellent for sighting lions and large herds of Uganda kob. The Mweya penisula offers excellent game drives with magnificent views across the water to The Rwenzori Mountains. Today also you will spend the morning out on game drive in search of the famous tree climbing lions. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch cruise along The Kazinga Channel – home to one of the grea t concentration of hippos in Africa and herds of elephants, buffaloes.
Day 6: Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast transfer to the northern circuit of the Ishasha sector with your packed lunch. Today you will have another chance of spotting lions resting on sycamore trees. Part of the park is famous for Chimpanzee tracking. Drive to Bwindi through scenic region also referred to as The Switzerland of Africa. With lunch along the way arrive at the park late afternoon. Dine and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Following an early morning breakfast, join the group and depart for a gorilla trek. The gorillas “nomadic lifestyle”, in their continues search for food, determines the duration of the trek. Although the trek might be demanding, the anticipation of the experience ahead and the beauty of the forest make it worthwhile. After the gorillas have been located you will spend an amazing hour in their company. Return to the camp late afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 8: Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast drive to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the Africa’s deepest lakes famous for its beautiful scenery. In the local language Bunyonyi means young birds hence it is a great place for bird watching. Upon arrival you could go for canoeing on the lake and later on have lunch. After lunch take a community walk with traditional dances (if you wish) from the Bakiga people.
Day 9: Lake Mburo
After breakfast transfer to Lake Mburo. It is a small but rich in wildlife National park, home to a big number of Zebras, antelopes, warthogs, reed bucks, oribis and a number of bird species. On your way, you will pass the rolling terraced hills of Kabale with lunch en route. You will find yourself in The Land of milk and honey. Reaching the park late afternoon. Have a 2 hour boat cruise on the lake and later have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast set out for a game drive through the beautiful savannah’s grasslands. Enjoy watching amazing animals in their natural environment. After drive we will head back for Kampala/Entebbe with stopovers for lunch and at the Equator with the chance to purchase souvenirs if you wish. Arrive in Kampala/Entebbe in the evening. Rest and dine at your chosen accommodation.
Day 11: Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour, visit the Uganda museum, shop some local crafts. Relax before your driver takes you to the airport for your ongoing journey.
